Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What about local building permits?
A:
We want to make the process of building your sunroom as convenient as possible to you. Each ABC Sunroom dealer will help secure the necessary permits in your area.

Q: Will the windows open in my sunroom?
A:
The windows slide open to allow a light breeze and fresh air to come through your sunroom. Each window is built standard with tempered safety glass and includes double cam locks for security, burglars blocks at the top of each operating sash, so your window sashes cannot be lifted out, and screens come with each window.

Q: How much does a sunroom cost?
A:
It's one of the most frequently asked questions. Just like buying a new car, there are many variables such as would you like leather seats, 2-door or 4-door, V4 or V8 engine, etc. The same goes for a sunroom---there are many options you can choose from to personalize your new sunroom to your home. We recommend you set up an appointment with one of our consultants to answer all your questions, help determine what sunroom would work best for your needs, address any construction concerns on your existing home and give you an "accurate" estimate.

Q: How long does it take to complete a sunroom project?
A:
The assembling of your new sunroom only takes a few days. From the time our consultant first visits your home, to ordering your custom designed sunroom, preparing the foundation to local building codes if necessary and assembling your new sunroom, it could take between 4-to-8 weeks.

Q: What makes your sunroom better than the others?
A:
ABC Sunrooms are the best engineered and best built sunrooms in the industry. Our sunroom walls have twice the R value of other sunroom manufacturer's walls. In addition our sunroom walls and steel roof systems meet fire code standards. Our roof system meets hurricane force wind guidelines and rated to withstand up to 140 mile per hour winds. Plus, every ABC Sunroom has U.L. approved internal raceway systems in the walls, so you can add electrical wiring easily. Not so with other companies, where you'll need to run wires or add electrical strips along the exterior walls and drill into the walls to add outlets, creating an unsightly mess. Every window is AAMA approved and is engineered for maximum performance.

Q: What other home improvement products do you carry?
A
: ABC Sunrooms is part of the ABC Seamless Super Store of Home Improvements. ABC Seamless is "The World's Largest Seamless Siding Company." For nearly 40 years, ABC Seamless has been known for it's seamless steel siding and log siding, seamless steel gutters, soffit & fascia, roofing and replacement windows. For more information ask your ABC Sunrooms consultant or visit our Super Store Web site at www.abcseamless.com.

Q: How long have sunrooms been available to homeowners?
A:
The very first sunrooms were constructed with wood posts and then stapling screens to them. They required a lot of maintenance like painting and scraping, replacing torn screens and rotted wood posts. In the 1960s, sunrooms evolved with the use of aluminum exteriors and the addition of windows with screens. Aluminum scratched and dented easily, its color faded and it was a poor insulator. Then in the 1970s, along came the honeycomb design. Bugs began chewing through the honeycomb cardboard and when it got wet, it began to rot and smell. In the 1980s, the insulation problem was finally solved with non-biodegradable polystyrene foam-backed aluminum. Polystyrene is a 100% thermal barrier, meaning it keeps all outside temperature outdoors and inside temperatures indoors.

Then came the best engineered and best built sunroom from ABC Sunrooms. First we have the strongest insulated floor available with our exclusive "Therma-Deck Floor System." The walls are constructed using aluminum wall beam extrusions, which are the strongest "Double I-beams" in the industry. ABC Sunrooms feature poly-iso-foam insulation in the walls. They carry up-to an R-19 rating. Plus ABC Sunrooms Poly-iso-Foam meets all fire test requirements of the new Building Codes.
